The Red Blue Lamp originates from material experiments with hewn wooden shingles. The split surfaces are mitred and carefully assembled to create the appearance of a seamless object, allowing the texture of the wood to become the primary visual language of the piece. The project explores how light interacts with the irregular texture of the surface. The contrast between the rawness of the hewn wood and the precise geometry of the form highlights the tension between craft and construction. Finished with linseed oil paint, the surface is both protected and subtly emphasised, preserving the natural character of the material while allowing the underlying texture to remain visible.
