Burnt Bottle-O Stool

Materials: Glochidion ferdinandi, wax and Rosin blend.

The Bottle O Series takes its name from the unexpected place where the felled tree was found, the carpark of my local bottle shop. Made from Glochidion ferdinandi, a native Australian hardwood, each section of the log is split with care to follow the grain. The chairs are brushed by hand to keep the natural texture while giving the surface a soft burnish. A hand blended varnish is then applied, refining the feel and offering protection from weather and wear. The result is a series of seats with organic, flowing forms that reveal the character of the timber.

This particular stool received a light charring and further brushing to further bring out the undulating pattern of the grain.
